Emergency Preparedness: A Man's Survival Pack

My husband and I have used these packs countless times; hiking, camping, on cross-country road trips, and they have been uber useful. I showed mine in July and now you'll get to see my husband's pack! Click on links for more information on certain products! Also, see my previous post for more ideas on creating your own survival pack!!
I've had this backpack for about 10 years. It's a High Peak Simex Sport Internal frame backpack. One of the things I love about this pack is that the side pockets have a little pleat that allows them to expand a bit, and the bottom compartment zips all the way around so you can really fit stuff in there. It's the perfect size for the mummy sleeping bags (on sale right now!) we have. My sleeping bag only fits in the large compartment of my pack and takes up the majority of the room, but it's something to consider when you're shopping for your own pack!

He keeps his fire starter and a whistle inside the pocket of his sleeping bag.

This pack also has the adjustable back strap!
His dear machete and an aluminum water bottle. Last month we left the full water bottle in the car and apparently it was so hot that bottom of the bottle popped out and is now rounded. Oops!
He has bullets for our 9mm, a paracord strap he made, a mirror for signaling for help or starting a fire, candles, a compass, fish line and hooks, and salt. The majority of this fits in a tin from a cologne!

Hygiene and first aid kit: Small package of lotion, deodorant, soap, hand sanitizer, toothpaste and toothbrush, chapstick, moleskin for blisters,  alcohol prep pads, band-aids, tweezers, and wipes. These wipes are great for your hands, but if you're planning on using them on your bum, I'd recommend getting the sensitive skin kind, or those made for baby bums. The first aid stuff all fits into an empty peanut butter jar and the rest goes into a ziploc bag!

Socks, knit hat, foil emergency blanket, flashlight, gloves (these are ideal when your fingers need to be free), a heavy duty poncho that can also be used as a tarp or to gather water, a flashlight with extra batteries taped around it, a small stuffed animal whale (this is the one that I had in my pack as a kid), and our backpacking tent! It's the Alps Lynx II. We got ours from Sportsman's Warehouse. We love how compact it is, and it only weighs 5 pounds, 4 ounces.

When I first pulled out his pack, he didn't have any water in it! I'll have to remind this Seattle guy that we're in Arizona :)
He has a mess kit, a spork, extra paper plates and utensils, a couple dried meals, granola bars, beef jerky, and a jar of peanut butter. My honey LOVES peanut butter and it has the protein and fat to keep him going in a survival situation!
He keeps our GoalZero Nomad 7 solar panel in his pack (more on this later!). But other options are this rechargeable battery that can be used to charge your phone and other devices in a cinch. This one is called the power tube! They are only about $7. I keep one in my purse too!

This is my new knife that I got on Amazon! It's a MTech Rescue Team knife. The handle is SO much more comfortable than my last knife, but the sheath seems a little cheaply made. Overall, I'm a big fan!

And that's it! His pack is a bit heavier than mine, but also much roomier.
Hopefully we'll be getting water filters soon!
Thank you for reading!!! Please comment!! :)

We also have a small hatchet that I think would be more useful than the machete...
Does anyone have an opinion on this one?
