The 3 Baby Carriers Everyone Needs
If you have a baby, you need these three carriers! I've tried nearly a dozen and these ones made the cut! I didn't have any of these with my first, and so wish I did!
Some of the things that have been important to me in a carrier are comfort, breath-ability, ability to share with my husband, and as minimal bulk as possible! I'm a nurse, and the daughter of a chiropractor, so I'm super concerned about proper development for baby and maintaining good posture for myself!
Why do you need a baby carrier anyway?
All babies want to be held! And 99% of the time they're crying because they are hungry, need a diaper change or want to be held. But you still need to cook, clean, shop, work, and potentially take care of other kiddos too. Carriers are designed to allow you to have your hands free and use your back to support baby, instead of just your arms.
Enter your sanity-saving baby carriers!
This one is thin, lightweight, and oh, so soft! Other brands may be cheaper, but you'll be wishing you had this one when you and your little one sweat buckets. Because you wrap it, it's a custom fit every time, and you can use it from birth to 25 pounds. You may find that your squirmy baby gets to big sooner, but this is a must-have for the newborn months. I've heard amazing things about their customer service too! Happy baby also makes a wrap in the same textile although I haven't tried it. You can breastfeed but you have to loosen it to do so, and you'll usually have to re-wrap it afterwards.
If you're totally overwhelmed by the amount of wrapping, practice! And if you still can't get the hang of it, look into Baby K'tan! No wrapping required, but it's sized to the parent, which can be tough if you're between sizes.

Don't bother with any other buckled soft structure carrier (SSC). This is the one you want! It's light, thin, and doesn't require an insert. Its design is perfect! Adjustable straps, purse strap holder, hood for baby, and a pocket! Newborn to 45 pounds. Front or back carry! Easy to breastfeed in! I just got this one a couple weeks ago, and have yet to take a photo with it! I'll update when I do. This is my favorite carrier in terms of posture, support, and versatility.
3. Ring slings
These are awesome for quick ups! They're the fashionistas of babywearing. They come in a variety of textile and ring colors, and work from newborn to 35 pounds. I've had Wildbird, True North, Poppet and Sakura Bloom, but I've heard awesome things about Proverbs 31, too! Breastfeeding is probably easiest in a sling, provided your rings are on the opposite shoulder of the side you're feeding on. The tail makes a great cover yourself and baby's head while breastfeeding, or from the sun, rain, wind, or snow.
